A taxi trip to Monash Caulfield can be pricy. Here are options.
The Caulfield Campus of Monash University is located at 900 Dandenong Road, Caulfield East, Victoria, Australia. See map 68 (reference F1) in the Melways street directory, or this map. There is public parking outlying the campus (please see the map).Travel time is approximately 35 minutes from the centre of Melbourne. If you come from the city by taxi, the fare will about around $25. From the airport - around $50, plus tolls (see cheaper options below). Whether coming by taxi or car, make sure you come to the Caulfield, NOT the Clayton campus, which is some distance away. If you require on-campus disability parking, please contact the conference organiser. There is metered and ticket machine public parking in the vicinity. Refer to the map.
The campus is regularly served by trains serving Caulfield railway station (on the Frankston, Dandenong, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines). Some country trains also stop here. It is very easy to get to the campus from the centre of Melbourne (eg Flinders Street Station or a station on the city loop). See Victrip for timetables, though services are frequent. The campus is directly opposite the station.
The no. 3 tram line (leaving the centre of Melbourne from Swanston Street and St Kilda Road) also reaches the campus from the city, turning down Carlise Street/Balaclava Road to eventually reach the campus (ask the driver to let you off). It is less frequent and takes around 40 minutes, but if you like tram rides, it's the way to go.
Warning: transport inspectors on trains and trams are not sympathetic - make sure you have the right ticket!!
STA Travel have an office on the Caulfield Campus, for day trips or other travel inquiries contact them at caulfield@statravel.com.au
