Ourbrisbane.com is an initiative of the Brisbane City Council to ensure all sections of Brisbane's community benefit from the knowledge economy.

Key benefits sought include:

The ourbrisbane.com strategy has 8 key initiatives.

The Communities Online initiative is responsible for Digital Divide issues within the affordability and learning and development agendas; building the capacity of community organisations to benefit from technology; and building online connectivity between local communities and communities of interest.

Over the past 18 months, the Communities Online program has developed access and training projects with refugees, seniors, IV drug users, and disadvantaged local areas with low rates of Internet use through partnership with local organisations and schools. A support website containing online tutorials and other information for new users is being developed and will go live in January 2002.

Pilot local area websites have informed the development of a Local Areas Online Project which sees 23 Local area websites go live on December 21, 2001.

The presentation would focus on learning gained through the community, including building online networks with community groups
