NSW Human Services Better Service Delivery Program

Jane Cleur, Department of Information Technology and Management, NSW

In addition to eight government departments/agencies, there are approximately 5,000 non-government organisations providing human services in NSW. It is estimated that six million client referrals are made annually amongst NSW government human services agencies and non-government organisations. It has been recognised by human service agencies that government and non-government organisations require enhanced integrated communication and information systems to improve client service delivery.

The Better Service Delivery Program, which is one of the largest human service IT projects in NSW, aims to deliver an on-line communication and information management system across human services in NSW.

The Program is an initiative of the Human Service Chief Executive Officers and is being led by the Office of Information Technology (Department of Information Technology and Management). The Council of Social Services NSW (NCOSS) and Forum of Non-Government Agencies (FONGA) are acting in partnership with the government agencies to maximise the involvement of non-government organisations.

This presentation outlines the project components of the Better Service Delivery Program and the involvement of the non-government organisations in development and delivery of a range of information and communication technology products.
